This means that when they see an email from you, a company they have previously done business with, they do not get aggravated when they see the email. Instead, they open it to see what you have to offer! A customer who has done business with you in the past is more likely to buy from you again - given they had a good experience the first time! 

Even if the buyer is not currently looking for your product or service at this time, staying top of mind helps them remember you when they are looking for your a product or service in your industry down the road.

For example, I do not travel a lot but a couple of years ago when I did, I had a great experience from an online rental car company. I have been in a situation where I needed to rent a car for nearly 2 years now, but I have recommended that company to a handful of other people. Why? Because I had a great experience, and because I received monthly email offers from that company that helped me remember my experience every time I saw the email in my inbox!

2. High percentage you will be seen

91% of consumers check their email daily! Social Media does not have that kind of loyalty across the board and even if 91% of consumers checked social media daily, which one do they check? How often? Will your post be seen at the time they are on social media? Maybe, maybe not. 

There is a higher probability that your email will be seen by a consumer, especially one in your database because that means they have already had some sort of interaction with your company in the past! Whether your email shares something educational, informative or is an offer, you will have a higher chance of being seen by consumers!

There are a lot of advertising options for businesses, but finding effective, efficient and worthwhile advertising is an ongoing development for any marketing department. A company may reduce their radio, TV, billboard, print, or internet advertising but they keep their email marketing in place simply because it works. E-mail marketing works in a way that does not annoy consumers in a way that spam does. Spam is emailing unsolicited offers to people who have not asked to be solicited, nor have had any previous relationship with a business. Someone who's had a relationship with a business, as I had with the car rental website, doesn't mind receiving email offers!
