Affiliate Marketing- When a company pays an approved affiliate a fee or commission for referring people to their website & they buy something.
Apps- applications that can be downloaded on a smart phone or mac that allow users to do a variety of tasks or play games.
Blog- a page on a website where regular an author can write posts on their thoughts, ideas, concepts, hobbies or expertise.
CRM- Customer Relationship Manager, a client's database of past, current & potential customers. Usually consisting of names, emails, phone etc.
CTA- Click-Thru-Rate, the measurement of when people see an ad impression and click on it.
Display Advertising- Digital advertising method where your ads are displayed on websites. Banner ads were the first form of this and now Retargeting is the most popular.
DMS- Data Management System, same as a CRM. A client's database of past, current & potential customers. Usually consisting of names, emails, phone etc.
Emoticons - Icons mostly used in texting or social media that convey emotion or an object that adds to the conversation, such as a smiley face 😀, or a laptop 💻.
Facebook- The largest social media platform in the world. Users create custom profiles about themselves and post updates on what's going on their lives. They can also share or "like" others' posts. They can post pictures and videos.
Geofencing- like the invisible fence for dogs, an invisible digital fence is created & you can send targeted ads to anyone who passes through that geographic fence
Hashtags # - these are used in social media platforms to make it easier to search for terms. You can use them to help show up in social media ie ( search for golf balls compared to #golfballs )
Icons- simple picture symbols that represent words or give guidance.
Impressions- whenever a digital advertisement appears on someone's computer or mobile phone
Instagram- A social media platform based solely sharing pictures or short videos. A variety of filters are available to edit images.
LinkedIn- A social media platform meant for business networking online.
Podcast- A live or recorded audio series on the internet for educational or entertainment purposes.
PPC- Pay Per Click, when you pay to be on the front page of search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo.
Retargeting- the digital advertising method attempting to get previous website visitors to return to your website. This is mostly seen when someone visits a website then later, they see ads for that site as they continue surfing the web. You can send ads targeted to people who visit your website, your competitor's site, or sites with specific keywords and even people who search for certain keywords
SEO- Search Engine Optimization, when you do things to your website & on your website to help your website get on the top page of search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo.
Snapchat- A social media platform using pictures and videos where you can add graphics, icons and filters.
Social Media- a website or app that allows people to interact with friends, family, neighbors or strangers.
Twitter- A social media platform that allows users to share thoughts by posting only using 140 characters. Pictures & Videos may also be shared. Hashtags are used frequently & you can follow data feeds of live events or based on certain topics. Users can also quickly share someone else's posts.
Vidcast- A live or recorded video series on the internet for educational or entertainment purposes.
Vlog- Similar to a blog, but uses video to post articles instead of writing.
Webcast- A different name for Vidcast. A live or recorded video series on the internet for educational or entertainment purposes.
